Course Overview of NSOU BLIS Distance Learning from NSOU

Bachelor of Library & Information Science programme offered by the Netaji Subhas Open University in distance mode. BLIS programme takes a minimum of 1 year and a maximum 3 years to complete. BLIS programme provides a suitable framework to transmit equitable education to the learners and also provide basic knowledge of computers and its applications in library & information science.

Netaji Subhas Open University conducts a teaching- learning system in both online and offline mode like NSOU conducts Personal Counselling Programmes (PCPs) and provides study material tools. It provides a platform for learners to exhibit their critical thinking.

Candidates must graduate (10+2+3) patterns from any field with at least 45% aggregate marks. In-service candidates also be exempted from the requirement of minimum marks at the graduation level (10+2+3). After completion of the BLIS programme form NSOU graduates can work as an Archivist, Library Technician, Librarian and Catalogue or Metadata Analyst.

For pursuing a Bachelor of Library and Information Science programme from NSOU, applicants must meet the basic eligibility criteria which include passing of graduation in any discipline with at least 45% marks. For freshers- Candidates need to complete their graduation with a minimum 45% aggregate marks in any field with 3 subjects. For In- Service Candidates: Candidates must have an experience of working in a library or similar organization and they must have passed their graduation under (10+2+3) pattern with a minimum passing grade.
